Soul had picked up the Alpha's scent when he had been walking and now he cocked his head, wondering what she was doing out here. Since joining he hadn't talked to the Alpha at all outside of pack meetings. He felt now would be as good a time as any. Soul started to follow her scent.
Artemis came into view a few minutes later. Soul couldn't see what she was doing but he made sure he was showing her proper respect before speaking. "Hello Artemis. How are you today?" He asked, a grin across the ebony wolf's face.

The ivory female dropped the small pheasant in to the hole near the den cache's, her muzzle twisted slightly in disappointment. Her hunt had been successful enough, but the Alpha had desired a larger catch to help feed her pack.
Ears swiveled upon he crown at the sound of a somewhat familiar voice, and blinking, the white female looked behind her, noticing the dark figure of Soul. A small smile of her own pressed to her lips, and lifting herself dominantly, the she-wolf began to bury the prey lightly in the ground. "Soul," she greeted warmly.

As the alpha greeted him Soul smiled and glanced at what she was doing. He noticed the small catch and grimaced, "Not much luck today?" He asked, moving to sit beside Artemis. Soul had a lot of respect for Artemis. She was a strong, independent female who started her own pack. He admired the strength she showed and the respect she required her pack members to show to her. He believe he had made the right decision in choosing his pack.
Soul was still getting to know everyone in the pack, but so far he felt closest to Artemis. That was probably only natural given that she was the alpha, but she reminded him of his old pack. They would have liked someone like Artemis. Soul's ears were perked as he looked around, before again directing his attention to Artemis and smiling.

The male moved to sit by her, stirring the ivory she-wolf to lean forward and nip playfully at the male's ears to his comment. "I fear not," she replied sullenly, her tail giving an idle flick behind her before she too reclined to her slender haunches. "The snow will be upon us, and our cache's are not stocked to my liking." Almost as if the weather heard her, gentle flurries of snow trickled from the clouds above.
They were four wolves strong with no young to protect this winter -- both a blessing and a curse to the she-wolf. Soul was the first to seek her out and truly speak with her, something she was grateful for, for the days grew long and lonely.

OOC: XD i think the last paragraph is kind of funny.
The ivory female nipped playfully at his ear and Soul returned it with a playful grow and a playful nip on her shoulder. He sat back as she began to talk, his ears falling at her words. He had been thinking the same thing lately. He was worried about what the winter would bring. "I've been thinking much the same thing." He said, grimacing at their small cache.
Sure, they were a small pack of only four wolves, but it would still be a tough winter without to much food. The prey would be scarce and they would be forced to make their supplies last. Soul looked up at the snow, before his gaze dropped once again to Artemis. Soul could see that she was worried so he leaned over and nudged her shoulder with his nose. "Don't worry Artemis, we will manage. The four of us are strong and healthy. And we have a strong, capable leader. We will make it through the winter." He said, trying to reassure her.
Wish, Ezra, Soul, and Artemis were all there was of the pack. Not a lot to rely on but at the same time not a lot to support. It was good none of the females were with pups, because if any of them were it would be hard to support them. Which meant it was a good thing Soul hadn't tried to take any of them as mates, since he was the only male in the pack. But maybe he would soon. He glanced at Artemis as he had the thought, but then looked away, not wanting the Alpha to think he was staring.

OOC: It's going to be interesting when Artemis finds out Soul took Ezra as his mate. xD
A small smile played to her lips as he nipped playfully back at her, though she did not retaliate. Her muzzle canted at his words, her expression growing somber once more as the reality of winter upon them took force. They were a small pack, but large enough to sustain themselves throughout a normal winter. Artemis could only hope famine was not something that would take hold of the land this season.
His gesture drew a sigh from her, and the regal she-wolf tipped her muzzle to press her muzzle to the side of his cheek momentarily, inhaling his scent and taking comfort in the ebony male's presence. While Soul was the only male within their ranks, the peppered she-wolf would easily admit to how handsome she found him.. but only to those she trusted entirely.
"Time will tell," she murmured in return, not wishing to press their luck and agree with his statement, lest tragedy befell them. There was a small pause, and the she-wolf cast her eyes over her companion. "What rank do you seek, Soul? What rank do you feel would best suit you?"
