Artemis elicited a quiet growl from her jaws, her eyes fixated upon the small herd that silently traipsed across the foothills of her land. Deer were quite the feast, and the ivory female felt her stomach give a low rumble at the thought of their first pack hunt.
Turning, Artemis prowled back up the slopes, out of sight and scent of the prey. Loping further in to her territory, the she-wolf felt at a safe distance so as to not disturb her find before lifting her muzzle up and beckoning her pack mates forward. They needed to prove themselves to her, and they needed to unite as a pack. In her mind, this was a good way to do both.

Ezra heard the howl, calling for a pack hunt. Excited and wanted to prove herself to her Alpha, she quickly made her way to Artemis. Once the ivory female was in view, Ezra lowered herself down, submitting to her Alpha as she moved forward and licked under her chin. What are we going to hunt my Alpha?

Wish looked around with amber eyes. She stood up and stretched then turned her head and pricked her ears, hearing the howl. Without a moments hesitation, Wish broke into a small run and headed towards her alpha. Reaching her, Wish lowered herself to the ground, submitting. She flicked her ears and slowly came forward, licking her alpha's chin. "You called?" She said softly, looking at Artemis quietly and waiting for her orders.

Her call did not go unanswered -- within moments, the other two females of the pack had joined her, and as each submitted, the ivory fae prowled forward to greet either by gripping each of their muzzle in her jowls gently before giving a nudge to their cheeks. Taking a step back, the Alpha's tail arched as her muzzle gave a nod in the direction she had come.
"Deer," she explained with a small smile, her eyes drifting between both females. Soul had not yet arrived, though Artemis would not count him out so soon; still, she would also not wait long. "Are either of you good hunters?" After all, a feast would do them well, and the caches would need to be stocked for the oncoming winter.

Wish's gaze slid over the trees and into the direction her alpha had indicated. She slowly sat up and flicked her ears as her gaze flicked back to Artemis. She tilted her head as she thought about her answer. Moments passed before she finally answered. "I can't say I'm an excellent hunter, but I guess I could say I'm good" She said slowly, as if considering her answer.

His ears perked and his head turned in the direction of the alpha's call. Soul glanced back at the rabbit he had been stalking, but turned his back on it without another moments hesitation. A pack hunt meant better prey than a measly rabbit, and the opportunity to see how he worked with he new packmates and their alpha.
Soul must have been farther than the others, because by the time he arrived Wish and Ezra were already in front of Artemis. When Soul arrived he lowered his head to Artemis, but kept it above Wish's and Ezra's. It wasn't that he didn't respect the other two, it was merely that fact that he wasn't use to submitting to so many others.
He walked over to Artemis and licked her chin once, his tail lower than hers. "Sorry Artemis, I was far off when I heard your call. He grinned when he heard that they would be hunting deer. His golden yellow eyes drifted around, looking for the direction the deer lay. He stopped after a moment, sure that Artemis would fill him in.

Ezra nodded at Artemis' question. I'm a fairly good hunter. She watched as the male, Soul, showed up a little late. He was holding his head and tail higher than her and Wish, showing that he was dominant over them when he wasn't. A little angered by his actions, Ezra lifted her head and tail higher than Soul's but kept both lower than Artemis'. She was ready to prove herself to her Alpha and hopefully gain a higher rank than Soul.

Artemis canted her muzzle in the direction of Soul, noting the male's submission toward her. Her eyes regarded her packmates, noting the tension of the wolves as they sorted out their ranks through their own dominance. She wasn't going to step in and interrupt -- they would sort it out amongst themselves, spare for whatever ranks she felt should be dealt out.
Two ebony wolves and two white wolves. A small smile flickered to the she-wolf's muzzle as she gave a nod in the direction of the deer. "A small herd this way. We will take them unawares and pick out the weakest amongst their herd."
With that, the Alpha set down the slope, her eyes gleaming as she took in the scenery. Proud of the home she had claimed, she also knew that four wolves was a decent number, but she craved more.
It took the pack only a few moments at a lope's pace. Artemis cast her members a look to silence them. Giving a light nod, she pressed her muzzle to both Ezra and Wish. "I need you two to fan out on either of the herd. We will take the small one in the middle -- it seems the weakest. Soul and I will lead the attack from the front, and you will zero in along it's sides. Be careful not to meet a hoof or antler." Worry laced her whispered tone, but she was eager to see the potential of her pack mates.

Wish watched her two pack mates. She wondered how they could fight over which one had more authority. She didn't mind, but she wasn't one to fight for ranks. She earned what she deserved on her own. Wish flicked her ears as she watched Soul and Ezra with gleaming amber eyes. Wish's attention quickly returned to her alpha, Artemis as she felt a small grumble in her stomach.
Standing up, the small black fae silently followed the others to the herd. She sniffed the air and kept her eyes locked on the deer as she alpha spoke to her and the other female in the pack. Glancing at Ezra, Wish nodded quietly, flicking the tip of her tail as her gaze slid over the herd and landed on the small deer Artemis had mentioned.

Soul glanced at Ezra and flashed his teeth in warning. He hadn't meant any disrespect by his actions, but he saw her response as a clear threat. He would warn her and if he had to he would work out his position with her using force. He would rather it not come to that conclusion, but if it had to be, so be it. For now he would wait until after their hunt to work it all out.
He loped along side his packmates as they got into position. As Artemis looked at them to tell them they needed to be quiet, Soul moved closer to Artemis as she gave instructions. He would help her lead the attack, which was good. He was a good hunter. He use to lead group hunts as he would teach the pups or new members how to hunt in his old pack. And he often ran second when the alpha tagged along. He was good in group hunts.
"Don't worry Artemis, were ready." Soul said in a low voice, looking at the Alpha and two other females with a smile and a nod. He knew it would take a moment for the group to adjust to each other's hunting style, but once that moment passed, he was sure the hunt would go good. All that mattered now was that they worked together well.

Once in position, Ezra nodded to Wish. Both fae's were ready and Ezra's gaze was locked onto the deer they were going to bring down. She waited for the perfect moment, and looked to Wish before lunging at the deer. she snapped at its legs and side, guiding it to where Soul and her Alpha were waiting. Ezra bit hard into one of it's legs, hearing a crunch as she broke the bone. With the deer stumbling and limping, it would be much easier for the other two to finish it off. Ezra did risk being injured in order to cripple the deer but she felt it would be worth it and she might even impress her Alpha.

Wish watched Ezra as she got into position. Keeping an eye on the deer, Wish waited patiently. As soon as she saw Ezra dart out, Wish followed, nipping at the deer's ankles and leading it towards Soul and Artemis. Wish quietly stole a glance towards Ezra as the two faes led the deer towards the others.

Soothed by Soul's reassurance, the she-wolf watched the two other fae's of the pack trail out to their position, her heart thumping in her chest at the prospect of one of them becoming hurt. They had yet to learn how to hunt as a unit together, and an accident before the winter month's could be disastrous.
But they proved themselves to show no hesitance, and when the two she-wolves darted out, Artemis held back her surprise at Ezra's lack of understanding to what the plan had been; her and Soul were to lead the attack.
Biting down her annoyance, the Alpha released a low growl, her advances quick as she came from their hiding spot to head the deer off. The snapping of bone was gratifying, and with her ears placed back to her skull, the regal she-wolf took to the front of the beast, her jaws snapping to the creature's neck, feeling her teeth close around the tender flesh and the taste of blood that came with it.
